Vincent Kompany was instrumental in Manchester City’s victory over Burnley on Sunday, according to Alan Shearer.

The 1-0 win at Turf Moor restored the reigning champions to the top of the Premier League table with two matches remaining and was built on a resilient display at the back.

Indeed Kompany has helped City keep two clean sheets in three Premier League matches since returning to the side as they seek to become the first club to retain the title in 10 seasons.

"It was a captain’s performance," said Shearer, who has included the Belgian in his Team of the Week. "He dealt superbly with the aerial onslaught from Burnley."

Tom Heaton (BUR) | BUR 0-1 MCI

Along with Ben Mee he was superb in helping keep the score down to one.

Issa Diop (WHU) | TOT 0-1 WHU

He did not put a foot wrong. An outstanding display.

Some incredible defending. The Burnley centre-back stood out again.

Ryan Fredericks (WHU) | TOT 0-1 WHU

Brilliant and composed the whole game. Crowned his display with a superb last-ditch tackle to deny Ben Davies.

Mark Noble (WHU) | TOT 0-1 WHU

The 31-year-old dominated the middle of the park against younger opponents in the Spurs side.

Youri Tielemans (LEI) | LEI 3-0 ARS

Too good for Arsenal. There will be a few Premier League teams after him in the summer!

Andrew Robertson (LIV) | LIV 5-0 HUD

The best left-back in the Premier League. Assists galore! A dream for a centre-forward to play alongside.

Callum Wilson (BOU) | SOU 3-3 BOU

Scored two goals, might have had three and contributed an assist.

Jamie Vardy (LEI) | LEI 3-0 ARS

Another two goals for the top-six specialist. With 18 goals he is making a late charge for the Golden Boot.

Mohamed Salah (LIV) | LIV 5-0 HUD

Back in form and going for successive Golden Boots after another two goals. It's great to see him back to his best.

Manager: Brendan Rodgers (LEI) | LEI 3-0 ARS

Only Liverpool and Man City have earned more PL points than Leicester's 16 since Rodgers took charge in March.
