Callum Hudson-Odoi (Nott'm Forest)

The former Chelsea winger could offer Fantasy managers a cut-price option in midfield if he can revive his career at Nottingham Forest.

Down to £4.9m, Hudson-Odoi is set to be reunited with Steve Cooper, who managed him to victory with England at the Under-17 World Cup back in 2017/18. He’ll face competition from Anthony Elanga (£5.0m) for a place in the starting XI following Brennan Johnson’s (£5.9m) move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Brennan Johnson (Spurs)

A transfer to Spurs lifts the appeal of the Wales international, Ange Postecoglou’s No 1 target following the departure of Harry Kane. He costs £5.9m and is a midfielder in FPL.

Johnson, who produced eight goals and five assists during his debut season in the Premier League, can play across the front three positions. Fantasy managers will be watching closely to see how his arrival impacts Dejan Kulusevski (£7.0m) and Richarlison (£6.9m), with Son Heung-min (£9.0m) moving to centre-forward a possibility.

Neal Maupay (Brentford)

The £4.9m Frenchman returns to Brentford where he enjoyed a successful spell scoring 37 goals in 85 Championship appearances before joining Brighton at the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

The move could have repercussions for Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m) and Yoane Wissa (£6.2m) should Maupay re-establish himself under Thomas Frank. Notably, Maupay converted six out of six penalties during his time at Brentford.

James McAtee (Sheff Utd)

A loan move from Man City to Sheffield United can make the midfielder a standout pick in the budget bracket at a cost of just £4.4m.

McAtee was a big success during a temporary stint for the Blades last season, producing nine goals and three assists in 21 starts in the Championship.

Ansu Fati (Brighton)

The versatile Spaniard could be handed the No 10 role for Brighton after moving on loan from Barcelona.

Fati produced seven goals and three assists in just over 1,300 league minutes in 2022/23 and, at £6.5m, could come into contention as a mid-price pick when the Seagulls’ schedule takes a kinder turn in Gameweek 10.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

His recent goals for Manchester City in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup highlight the midfielder’s attacking potential.

Available in FPL for £4.9m. Palmer has the schedule to make an immediate impact at his new club, with Chelsea facing Nottingham Forest, AFC Bournemouth and Fulham in the next four Gameweeks.

Nuno Tavares (Nott'm Forest)

The Portuguese could be one of the cheapest starting defenders in 2023/24 Fantasy after his loan move from Arsenal to Nott’m Forest.

At a cost of £4.0m, Tavares is more budget friendly than his rivals for the left wing-back role, Neco Williams and Ola Aina (both £4.5m).

Matheus Nunes (Man City)

The Portuguese’s move from Wolves to Man City means he is now very likely to be a major rotation risk under Pep Guardiola.

Managers should not be swayed by Nunes's low cost in Fantasy and should look for more secure picks in the budget bracket instead.

Tommy Doyle (Wolves)

Priced at a mere £4.4m, Wolves' loan signing from Man City would be the cheapest starting midfielder in Fantasy if he secures a regular role.

Three goals and four assists in last season’s Championship highlights Doyle’s all-round style of play.
