A home encounter with goal-shy Crystal Palace boosts the Fantasy Premier League prospects of Charlie Daniels (£5.3m) for Gameweek 23.
Ranked seventh among FPL defenders, on 90 points, 17 points clear of Junior Stanislas (£5.3m) as AFC Bournemouth’s top performer, the full-back faces a side who have scored just twice in the last six rounds of fixtures.
But Daniels’ potential is not just limited to defensive returns from clean sheets.
Allowed to surge down the left by Eddie Howe, Daniels has three goals and as many assists in 20 appearances, almost on a par with last season’s three goals and five assists.
Owned by 13.8% of FPL managers, the full-back has proven an explosive producer of points and has provided four sets of double-digit returns.
At home, in particular, Daniels’ forays forward have troubled visiting defences.
Charlie Daniels' contrasting form
Per match statistics | Home | Away |
Goal attempts | 0.7 | 0.4 |
Penalty area attempts | 0.5 | 0.2 |
Goal attempts on target | 0.3 | 0.1 |
Chances created | 1.3 | 0.8 |
ICT Index | 5.8 | 4.4 |
He has fired 0.7 shots per appearance at Vitality Stadium, almost double his 0.4 average on the road.
Daniels has also registered more efforts inside the opposition penalty area (0.5 to 0.2) and has been more accurate with his attempts, averaging 0.3 on target compared with 0.1 away from home.
With his creativity also superior in front of his own supporters (1.3 key passes to 0.8), Daniels’ ICT Index average is also stronger at Vitality Stadium by 5.8 to 4.4.
Indeed, no AFC Bournemouth player has created more chances than Daniels’ 13 at home.
Over the last four rounds of fixtures, the Cherries defender has upped his output, recording a goal and two assists in addition to four FPL bonus points.
When compared with his team-mates from Gameweek 19 onwards, Daniels’ influence in attack is obvious. In the final third, he is first for touches (113), passes received (67) and successful passes (61).
With only four teams having scored more goals at home, Daniels looks an enticing pick against opponents who have conceded in all five Premier League outings since the appointment of Sam Allardyce.
