Southampton have signed centre-back Kevin Danso from FC Augsburg on a season-long loan.

The Saints tied up the deal for the 20-year-old as the transfer window closed on Thursday afternoon.

Danso was born in Austria, later moving to the UK and coming through the MK Dons youth system.

He signed for Augsburg in 2017, made 45 appearances for the Bundesliga club, and has also won six caps for the Austrian national team.

Speaking to the club's official website, Danso said: "I'm delighted to join a club that has produced a lot of great players. I'm ready for the challenge and really excited to get started."

Manager Ralph Hassenhuttl said: "Kevin is another signing that fits our model of being a talented, young player who adds quality to our first-team squad. He will improve our defensive options, so this is an excellent way for us to finish our business."
