2012: Shinji Kagawa joins Manchester United

Shinji Kagawa became the first Japanese Manchester United player when he moved from Borussia Dortmund.

The playmaker played a key role as Dortmund won the Bundesliga title under Jurgen Klopp, and in his debut 2012/13 season he also enjoyed success.

Kagawa scored six goals in 20 Premier League appearances as Man Utd won the title, including a hat-trick against Norwich City . He was the first Japanese player to win the competition.

The following campaign he played 18 times in the league, before returning to Dortmund in August 2014.

2017: Liverpool sign Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah moved to Liverpool from Roma for his second spell in the Premier League, after failing to establish himself at Chelsea.

There were no such difficulties when he moved to Anfield though, with the Egypt winger enjoying a record-breaking 2017/18 season.

Salah scored 32 Premier League goals, a record for a 38-match campaign, as he won the Golden Boot.

His dazzling form was also rewarded with the EA SPORTS Player of the Year prize, and he claimed the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award on three occasions.

His exploits also helped Liverpool finish fourth and reach the UEFA Champions League final.
