Liam Walsh converted an 85th-minute penalty to earn Everton a 1-1 Premier League Cup draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers, in Telford, which kept them top of Group D.

In his first match since a knee injury, Walsh struck after a foul on Courtney Duffus. Wolves had led through Will Randall in the 36th minute and had they held on, would have gone top of the group.

The point keeps Everton top on seven points, two ahead of Wolves and Portsmouth, who beat Norwich City 4-0.

Wolves' next fixture in the competition is at Telford against Portsmouth on 7 February, while Everton face Norwich at Carrow Road on 15 February.

Both teams are in Premier League 2 action on Monday, with Wolves playing Newcastle United at the Northumberland FA and Everton facing Manchester United at Leigh Sports Village.
