Gary Neville

A one-club man, Gary Neville spent his entire 18-year professional career at Manchester United.

Part of Man Utd's famous "Class of 1992" from their Academy, Neville made the right-back position his own with a combination of top-class defending and enterprising attacking play.

He was a consistent performer under Sir Alex Ferguson throughout the 1990s and 2000s, racking up 148 clean sheets in his 400 Premier League appearances as he won the title eight times, a tally only beaten by two players.

Neville's overlapping runs, pinpoint crosses and link-up play with winger David Beckham on the right flank were his trademark, leading to 35 assists, a total no defender could match at Old Trafford.

Neville, who was named Man Utd captain in 2005, also scored five times before he retired in 2010/11.

“Not only is Gary a great person, but he is one of the best defenders ever to have played the game. It was an honour to play with him at United and for England.” - David Beckham
