Reading extended their lead at the top of their Premier League Cup group after twice coming back from two goals down to claim a 3-3 draw at Sheffield United.

The Blades went 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Harvey Gilmour and Jordan Hallam before Sam Smith got a goal back for Reading with 18 minutes to go.

Jake Wright looked to have sealed the victory for United in the 83rd minute when he bundled the ball home.

But the visitors rallied and Jamal Balogun's side-footed goal and a fine Josh Barrett free-kick gave Reading a share of the points.

In Group H, Reading are on seven points from three matches, four points clear of Stoke City, while Sheffield United are bottom with one point from two fixtures.
