Aaron Connolly ended the ePremier League Invitational defence of Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Brighton & Hove Albion striker defeated Morgan Gibbs-White in the second edition of the tournament.

Wolves were defending their crown after Diogo Jota won last month's inaugural tournament but Connolly claimed a 3-0 victory on Wednesday to take Brighton into the quarter-finals.

Earlier in the day, Keinan Davis put Aston Villa into the last eight with a 6-1 victory over former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique.

Southampton's Michael Obafemi also made it through with an entertaining 7-0 triumph over former boxer Tony Bellew, representing Everton.

In the final contest, Chelsea wing-back Emerson was too strong for Watford forward Andre Gray, whom he beat 4-2.
