Divock Origi (£6.5m) netted for the second successive appearance to strengthen his chances of a starting role for Liverpool’s Gameweek 14 trip to AFC Bournemouth.

Handed a place up front against Leeds United in the EFL Cup, he opened the scoring in a 2-0 home win, adding to his strike off the bench at home to Sunderland.

With Philippe Coutinho (£8.5m) sidelined for a number of weeks due to an ankle injury and Roberto Firmino (£8.8m) nursing a minor calf problem, Jurgen Klopp made numerous changes to his starting XI on Tuesday evening.

Nonetheless, the Reds manager started Sadio Mane (£9.2m), Georginio Wijnaldum (£7.5m) and Emre Can (£4.8m), with the former two lining up on either side of Origi in a front three.

The trio played from start to finish, with Wijnaldum supplying an assist for the hosts’ second goal at Anfield.

Liverpool have now clinched a place in the EFL Cup semi-finals, with the first leg due to take place prior to a Gameweek 21 trip to Manchester United.

Considering that the second leg will come before a Gameweek 23 home encounter with Chelsea, Klopp may look to continue rotating his side for cup matches in order to prioritise the Reds’ bid for the Premier League title.

Hull City also secured a place in the last four of the EFL Cup after defeating Newcastle United on penalties.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.6m) netted for the Tigers in a 1-1 draw at the KCOM Stadium.

The Scot, who has produced more than double the number of Fantasy Premier League points than any team-mate, continues to look like Hull's most potent attacker as Mike Phelan’s side prepare to face Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace in the next two Gameweeks.

But Phelan has problems in attack as Dieumerci Mbokani (£5.5m) will now serve a three-match ban after being dismissed for violent conduct.

With Abel Hernandez (£6.0m) and Will Keane (£4.5m) sidelined through injury, the Hull head coach is likely to turn to Adama Diomande (£4.6m) to lead the line against Boro.

Hull have failed to score in their previous two away matches, suggesting that Middlesbrough could be well placed for a clean sheet at the Riverside Stadium on Monday evening.
