Fantasy Premier League managers will have welcomed AFC Bournemouth's signing of Jordon Ibe from Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has long promised to become a prospect but was never quite able to establish a regular starting role at Anfield.

Now part of Eddie Howe's exciting young side, Ibe has a new platform to flourish, both as a Premier League performer and as an FPL target.

The winger is a tantalising prospect.

Strength and pace, coupled with his direct running and propensity to dart inside to unleash strikes on goal will add a new dimension to Howe's emerging line-up.

Priced at only £5.5m, Ibe joins a cast of attacking midfield players vying for attention from FPL managers.

Joshua King and Junior Stanislas (both £5.5m) came under consideration last season but neither sustained form or provided assured starts.

Max Gradel (also £5.5m) is another within Howe's squad who edged into the FPL frame, though his promise was derailed by injury.

Gradel could be a factor this time around and all three will warrant monitoring, but it is Ibe's promise that catches the eye.

Junior Stanislas averaged a shot every 34 minutes and a key pass every 45 minutes last season

Even at £5.5m, Ibe still represents something of an FPL gamble.

He notched a single goal and two assists in 27 appearances for Liverpool last season, although he was limited to 12 starts.

Ibe fired in an effort on goal every 43 minutes and created a chance for team-mates every 63 minutes.

Stanislas, who could contest starts with the new arrival, surpassed him on both counts - averaging a shot every 34 minutes and key pass every 45 minutes.

Regular pitch time will be the crucial factor.

Given the club-record fee involved, a starting role would seem assured. If Howe does show faith in his new signing, Ibe will be expected to step up his productivity and emerge as a pivotal figure.

He has certainly used the pre-season to showcase his talents - two superb goals in friendlies against Portsmouth and Cardiff City have provided a preview of coming attractions.

If that trend continues, AFC Bournemouth’s investment will have been fully justified and a valuable FPL asset will be unlocked.
