Everton’s strong home form

This week’s challenge effectively levels the playing field.

Players from Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Manchester United have an edge in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) this week, with two Gameweek 37 (GW37) fixtures.

But with single Gameweek sides having their points doubled in FPL Challenge, that advantage is not as clear cut.

Everton are among the 14 teams with just one fixture in GW37.

But the Toffees are up against Sheffield United, the division’s lowest scorers with just 35 goals.

Sean Dyche’s side are also on a run of four consecutive clean sheets at Goodison Park, so Jarrad Branthwaite (£4.5m) comes into the thinking.

The Blades have allowed 111 headed chances this season, the most in the league, so Branthwaite could even add to the three goals he has already scored in 2023/24.

Gunning for the title

Another single Gameweek club that demand attention are Arsenal.

Their totals of 28 goals conceded and 88 goals scored are both the best in the league.

No one comes close to their tally of 17 clean sheets, either.

Gabriel Magalhaes (£5.4m) is consequently selected in our XI.

Like Branthwaite, it’s not just the possibility of a shut-out: Gabriel is second for shots in the box among defenders this season, with 27.

And opponents Man Utd have allowed the most attempts from set-pieces in the Premier League, boosting his appeal further.

The Red Devils being ranked 20th for shots conceded this calendar year is also a factor in Kai Havertz’s (£7.5m) selection.

The Germany international has 16 attacking returns in his last 14 starts.

Hammer time

Luton Town’s goal difference means they realistically need at least a point this weekend to extend their chances of survival.

That should force them to attack West Ham United, who could prosper on the break.

The Hammers will also want to give David Moyes a fond send-off in what will be his final home match in charge.

Luton haven’t kept a single clean sheet on their travels this season, conceding 45 goals in 18 away fixtures.

Jarrod Bowen (£7.6m) will be keen to add to his 16 league goals against a side he scored against back in September.

City triple-up

There is still plenty of interest in the teams that do play twice, however.

As much as anything else, players from these six clubs get two bites of the cherry - so if there is a blank in their first GW37 fixture, they get the chance to make amends in midweek.

Three Man City players make our chosen XI.

Erling Haaland (£14.2m) feels like a must-have after he returned to his scintillating best with a four-goal haul in Gameweek 36 (GW36).

Phil Foden (£8.4m) and Josko Gvardiol (£5.1m) also get the nod.

Foden has delivered six attacking returns in his last three starts, while Gvardiol has showcased his own goal and assist potential recently with two of each in the last four Gameweeks.

Seeing double

Four other players with a Double Gameweek feature in our selection.

Cole Palmer (£6.3m) may save his best for Stamford Bridge but his away record is still exemplary, with 13 attacking returns in 14 starts on the road.

He and Chelsea travel to both Nottingham Forest and Brighton in GW37.

Team-mate Djordje Petrovic (£4.7m) meanwhile has three clean sheets in his last five appearances, with the Chelsea defence suddenly looking a lot more solid.

Alexander Isak (£8.4m) and Son Heung-min (£9.9m) round off our selection.

Isak averages a goal every 100.8 minutes, a figure that only Haaland can beat among active Fantasy forwards.

Son meanwhile scored 30 points in the reverse fixtures of his Gameweek 37 matches.
