Zech Medley scored the winning spot-kick as Arsenal beat Villarreal 5-4 on penalties at Emirates Stadium after the match had ended 2-2 to reach the Premier League International Cup final.

Arsenal got off to a strong start when Tyreece John-Jules reacted quickest to a loose ball and fired into the top corner after eight minutes.

The Gunners doubled their advantage when midfielder Charlie Gilmour scored a penalty on 19 minutes after having been brought down by Sergio Lozano Lluch.

Within 60 seconds Villarreal had pulled a goal back through Adrian Dalmau Vaquer and by half-time it was all square following Medley's own goal.

With the second half and then extra-time goalless, the match went to penalties, and, after Arsenal's Deyan Iliev saved from Ruben Mesa Visiga, Medley atoned for his own goal with the decisive penalty.
