Everton have confirmed the signing of Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper is Ronald Koeman's first signing as manager of Everton and joins on a three-year deal.

Stekelenburg and Koeman will be reunited for the third time, after spells at Ajax and at Southampton last season.

"He [Koeman] has come to Everton and he called me a few days after asking if I was willing to follow him," Stekelenburg told evertontv. "It wasn’t difficult to make that choice.

"He’s one of the best coaches - he’s straight talking, he’s fair and he has confidence in me which counts as well. I’ve been here [in England] for a couple of seasons and I love the Premier League. It’s fantastic that I can stay.”

Everton start the 2016/17 season at home to Tottenham Hotspur, while their pre-season fixtures being on 23 July with a trip to Barnsley. For more on Stekelnburg's move to Goodison Park, visit evertonfc.com.
