Locadia will add new threat to Brighton

Southampton will make late decisions on left-back Ryan Bertrand (thigh) and January signing Guido Carrillo (lacking match fitness), who could make his Premier League debut.

Charlie Austin (hamstring) is back in training but remains unavailable.

Brighton & Hove Albion are without Steve Sidwell (back) and are waiting to discover the extent of Jiri Skalak's ankle injury.

New signing Jurgen Locadia (thigh) is not expected to be in full training until late next week.

Did you know?

Southampton have lost only one of their last 27 Premier League home matches against promoted teams (W17 D9) and are unbeaten in the last 11.

Brighton & Hove Albion have been unable to score in their last three PL matches on a Tuesday or Wednesday, drawing 0-0 with Crystal Palace and losing 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

Southampton are winless in their last 11 PL matches (D6 L5). This is one short of their longest run without a win in the competition, which ended in March 1995.

Pascal Gross has been directly involved in 53% of Brighton’s 17 PL goals (four goals, five assists). This is the highest ratio for a player at a club in the competition this season.

What the managers say

Mauricio Pellegrino: “The most important thing at the moment is the growing belief in the dressing room. I think we are growing little by little and at the right time.”

Chris Hughton: "If you look at the way they play, generally they've been a form of 4-2-3-1. They have a lot of offensive options, they play a very good brand of football and they have a lot of quality."
