Luke Charman scored a goal in each half as Newcastle United went joint top of Group D with a 2-1 win over Colchester United at Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The Magpies had three efforts ruled out in the first half - one for handball and two for offside - while Colchester's Charley Edge hit the bar.
Charman gave Newcastle the lead right on half-time but Tariq Issa equalised straight after the break, only for Charman to win it in the 66th minute.
The Magpies are level with Burnley on six points, while Swansea City and Colchester are on zero points.
