Diogo Jota has won January 2024's EA SPORTS Player of the Month award, earning the prize for the first time in his career.

Jota claims the accolade after three goals and two assists in only three appearances, inspiring Liverpool to a perfect three wins from as many matches.

After recovering from injury at the end of December, the Portuguese came off the bench to provide an assist in a 4-2 win over Newcastle United on New Year's Day, before scoring a brace and setting up another goal as the Reds emphatically beat Bournemouth 4-0.

He then scored in a 4-1 victory against Chelsea for his fifth goal involvement of the month, the most of any Premier League player, helping Liverpool remain at the top of the table ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Jota topped a six-man shortlist that also included Elijah Adebayo, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Magalhaes, Richarlison and team-mate Conor Bradley.

He is the second Liverpool player to win the award this season, following on from Mohamed Salah's success in October.

Jota won after the public's votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.

Oscar Bobb has won January 2024's Budweiser Goal of the Month award for his brilliant match-winning strike in Manchester City's 3-2 comeback victory at Newcastle United.

After coming off the bench on 82 minutes with the match tied 1-1, Bobb won the game in the first minute of stoppage time with an exquisite piece of skill.

The 20-year-old Norwegian superbly controlled fellow substitute Kevin De Bruyne's cross and showed incredible feet to knock the ball past goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and score his first Premier League goal.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola praised the finish by Bobb, who was keen to pass on credit for the goal to De Bruyne.

"Oscar's was a fantastic goal for the control," Guardiola said. "When Kevin has the ball and we have runners, Kevin is unique in the world but the finish by Oscar, I am so, so happy for him."

Bobb added: “I said thank you to him [De Bruyne] after. He’s the only one in the world who can do that [make that cross]."
