Jordan Pickford has won the 2021/22 Castrol Save of the Season award.

Everton goalkeeper Pickford claims the inaugural prize for his stunning goalline stop from Cesar Azpilicueta on 1 May.

After Mason Mount's shot had hit both posts, Pickford raced across his line and then dived in the opposite direction to keep out Azpilicueta's rebound as Everton beat Chelsea 1-0.

It was a save of added significance as it moved the 18th-placed Toffees two points from safety as they ultimately went on to avoid relegation.

Pickford wins the award after receiving the most combined votes from the public and a panel of football experts.

He topped a shortlist featuring nine other sensational stops by goalkeepers across the campaign.
