The race to be crowned winner of 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League is going down to the final Gameweek, with only one point separating the top two managers out of the 8.2million who play the game.

Current leader Ola Hovde, from Norway, has held the No 1 spot for 23 of the last 28 Gameweeks.

The Liverpool fan needs 68 points to beat Jon Reeson’s winning total from 2009/10. Jon's tally of 2,668 remains the most points accumulated in a single season.

Ola's nearest rival is Lebanese manager Mohamad Abdallah, who has gained 42 points on the leader in the last four Gameweeks to move within touching distance of the summit.

Incredibly, this is Manchester United fan Mohamed’s first season playing FPL, while Ola had never finished inside the top 1.5million.

Big call on who to captain

Both Ola and Mohamed have used all their chips and have one free transfer apiece, making their captaincy decisions all the more important.

Ola could again turn to Mohamed Salah (£12.9m), having handed the Egyptian the armband in each of the last four Gameweeks that Liverpool have had a fixture.

By contrast, Mohamed has captained Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane (£11.9m) in three of the last four Gameweeks. The one exception was when he turned to Bruno Fernandes (£11.4m) for Man Utd's Triple Gameweek 35.

Make move to counter?

Crucially, Ola does not own Kane at present, so he could choose to spend his free trade on the Spurs striker to cover off his rival.

Salah and Kane are level on 22 goals apiece in their race for the Golden Boot, and both have prolific records against their weekend opponents.

Salah has five goals and four assists in his last four meetings with Crystal Palace, while Kane has scored 14 goals in his 11 appearances against Leicester City.

The chasing pack

Both Ola and Mohamed will be looking over their shoulders during Sunday's finale, with only 22 points separating the top 11 managers.

With the final day of the season usually full of goals, third-placed Michael Coone will be hoping Sadio Mane (£11.8m) gains him an edge.

He is the only manager in the top 11 to own the Senegalese, who has blanked only once in his last seven starts.

Elsewhere in the top five, English managers Louis Harrington and Harvey Ransome both have the advantage of two free transfers.

Louis has no Leeds United players for their home match against West Bromwich Albion and could turn to Patrick Bamford (£6.6m), Raphinha (£5.6m), Jack Harrison (£5.6m) or Stuart Dallas (£5.5m).

Harvey, meanwhile, could invest in Liverpool players for their crucial match with Palace.

Salah is currently his only player from the Reds as Jurgen Klopp’s side look for the win that would secure their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
