Jonathan Leko, who made a substitute appearance in West Bromwich Albion's Premier League defeat to Manchester United on Saturday, scored for the club's Under-23 side but could not help them avoid a Premier League 2 Division 2 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Leko played alongside Saido Berahino and put his side ahead in the 14th minute at Crawley Town, but James Tilley equalised with a 39th-minute penalty before central defender Tom Dallison hit an 80th-minute winner for the Seagulls.

The result leaves Brighton in ninth place in the table and only two points behind West Brom, who dropped down to seventh.

Brighton's next match is at Newcastle United at the Northumberland FA on Monday, 9 January while West Brom host local rivals Aston Villa at Kidderminster on the same night.
