It has been 23 years since a summer signing announced themselves with a debut hat-trick on the Premier League's opening weekend.
And it is a feat that has been achieved only once in the competition's history, by Middlesbrough's Fabrizio Ravanelli in August 1996.
But new players to the Premier League, such as West Ham United striker Sebastien Haller and Newcastle United front man Joelinton, will aim to emulate Ravanelli's unique accomplishment when they kick off their campaigns on the weekend of 10 August.
Unique hat-trick
Bought from Juventus as Boro's then-record signing, Ravanelli made an immediate impact with three goals in an opening-day 3-3 draw with Liverpool in 1996/97.
Four years later, another Middlesbrough player nearly matched Ravanelli's record as Alen Boksic scored twice on his debut against Coventry City.
He is one of four players to have scored two Matchweek 1 goals on a maiden Premier League appearance, along with Sergio Aguero, Mladen Petric and Michu.
And each of those four players also recorded an assist in their first PL match.
Aguero's early impression was particularly impressive as his two goals and assist for Manchester City against Swansea City in 2011 came in only 30 minutes after he had been introduced as a substitute.
