Son Heung-min scored a late winner as Tottenham Hotspur moved into second place with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Mauricio Pochettino's side finally made the breakthrough on 83 minutes, when Son's shot went through Martin Dubravka for his second goal in as many matches since returning from the Asian Cup.

Spurs started impressively and Lucas Moura put an Erik Lamela cross wide before the latter then headed against the crossbar.

After the break, Newcastle also hit the woodwork as Salomon Rondon's header struck a post.

At the other end, Christian Eriksen's clever flick beat Dubravka but Fabian Schar cleared, while Hugo Lloris produced a fine save to deny Ayoze Perez before Son struck.

Spurs are on 57 points, one ahead of Manchester City who play Arsenal on Sunday. Newcastle are 15th with 24 points.
