Reading and West Bromwich Albion had to share the points in a match of many chances but no goals.
Danny Loader, the PL2 Player of August, hit the woodwork for Reading in the first half at Adams Park, as did Oliver Burke for West Brom.
After the break, Alex Palmer in the West Brom goal, produced three big saves to deny Reading.
The draw earned only a second point of the season for an experienced West Brom side which also featured James Morrison, Kyle Edwards, Rekeem Harper and Jonathan Leko.
Reading are fifth on nine points.
