Some in-form midfielders offer alternatives to Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), Sergio Aguero (£11.0m) and Harry Kane (£12.5m) when Fantasy Premier League managers are choosing their Gameweek 2 captains.

Salah's team-mate Sadio Mane (£9.6m) is one such player for Liverpool's trip to Crystal Palace.

Mane was Gameweek 1's joint-top scorer with 16 points.

Mane in demand

His two goals and maximum bonus award earned him double the eight points of Salah against West Ham United on Sunday.

That has made him the most bought player for Gameweek 2, with more than 310,000 transfers in.

Both Mane and Salah scored in a 2-1 win at Selhurst Park last season.

England pair on form

Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) and Dele Alli (£9.0m) were also on the scoresheet in Gameweek 1.

Sterling fired the opener in a 2-0 win at Arsenal and will welcome Huddersfield Town to the Etihad Stadium, a place where 11 of his 18 goals and six of his 10 double-figure points hauls were produced last season.

Alli netted Tottenham Hotspur's winner at Newcastle United.

His next opponents, Fulham, allowed a Gameweek-high 10 shots on target during their 2-0 home defeat by Palace.

Richarlison can shine again

There are also a pair of standout candidates in the mid-price bracket.

Richarlison (£6.6m) marked his Premier League debut for Everton with both goals in the 2-2 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

And a visit from Southampton should give the midfielder another opportunity to prosper.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) offers a cheaper solution up front.

The West Ham forward scored two goals against his weekend visitors AFC Bournemouth last season.

The Cherries struggled for resilience away from home in 2017/18, managing only three clean sheets.
