Everton's Idrissa Gana Gueye (hamstring) should be fit, while Ashley Williams is available again after suspension.

Liverpool's Joel Matip (thigh) is out and expected to miss the rest of the season.

Adam Lallana (hamstring) is also missing and is expected to be so for "a number of weeks", according to Jurgen Klopp.

Mohamed Salah is a doubt after coming off early during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City, as is Emre Can (back). But Nathaniel Clyne could make his first appearance of the season.

Everton are targeting their first PL win over Liverpool in 17 attempts. Their last top-flight victory in the Merseyside derby was a 2-0 triumph in October 2010.

Four of the last five PL meetings between the clubs at Goodison Park have ended level, although Liverpool won this fixture 1-0 last season.

A Liverpool victory would take them into double figures for away wins for the second successive season, which would be a first for them in the Premier League era.

Mohamed Salah has scored 29 PL goals this season and one more would make him the first African player to hit 30 in a single campaign. His strikes have been worth 15 points to Liverpool, the highest tally in the division.
