Fourteen years ago Ann Hough had to fight for Huddersfield Town’s existence as they went through administration, and was leading the way for women in football.
Now she and the club are enjoying life in their debut Premier League season, and she has seen a rise of ladies working in senior positions and throughout clubs across the country.
“I've been in the game so long,” Ann, Huddersfield Town’s Operations Director, says in the video below. “When I first started, there were very few ladies in football.
“But I've worked through it and in today's world, there is quite a good number at senior level like me.”
Ann moved to Huddersfield in 1993 and her loyal service to the club and major contributions to local business and sport was rewarded last week with the Woman of the Year at the Yorkshire Awards.
“I hadn't even been to a football match before I started actually working for Huddersfield Town,” she admits.
“It was such a good group of people who I worked with and it became a life rather than just a job.”
