Wayne Rooney was delighted to join Alan Shearer in the “200 Club” but admits that catching the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer is a long way away.
Rooney's goal in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City last night was his 200th in the Premier League, and he remains 60 behind the former Newcastle United forward.
“To join Alan Shearer [in the 200 club] feels great… but I still have a lot to do to catch Alan,” Rooney told evertonfc.com.
“It’s a great moment and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”

Rooney’s milestone strike was acknowledged by his former club Manchester United, for whom he scored 183 PL goals for, and by Shearer, who posted a video congratulating Rooney on his achievement.
