AFC Bournemouth have announced the signing of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Premier League champions Chelsea

The 29-year-old has agreed a long-term deal to move to Vitality Stadium for an undisclosed fee on 1 July.

Begovic, who returns to the club with whom he played on loan when they were in League One in 2007, says Cherries manager Eddie Howe played a huge part in his decision to move.

“AFC Bournemouth is an exciting, ambitious club which has everything in place for a very bright future,” the Bosnia and Herzegovina international told afcb.co.uk.

“Being part of a title-winning team at Chelsea was amazing but I felt now was the right time to move on because I want to be playing regular football.

“When I spoke to Eddie Howe I knew AFC Bournemouth was the right club for me and I want to bring my experience to the squad, both on and off the pitch.”
