Having returned 68 points, 19 above the average, last time out, the Gameweek 21 selection has, in seeking returns, also come in at £78.7m, £4.3m under budget.

The first Scout Selection under £80m shows the value on offer for managers, as a Hull City playmaker goes head-to-head with AFC Bournemouth's midfield gem, while Burnley's red-hot striker sits alongside a Sunderland asset who has been untouchable for points per million returns all season.

Tom Heaton - Burnley - £4.9m
The captain has recorded more saves (83) and save points (20) than any FPL goalkeeper. With three clean sheets and just nine goals conceded at Turf Moor, Heaton hosts a Southampton side with a modest nine goals in 10 road trips.

Danny Rose - Tottenham Hotspur - £6.0m
The left-back's attacking forays have garnered the most goal attempts (21) among FPL defenders this season, while his clean-sheet prospects also look strong against a West Bromwich Albion side who have not scored in two of their past three away ties.

Patrick Van Aanholt - Sunderland - £5.0m
Another attacking threat from full-back, the Dutchman has returned three goals, an assist and six bonus points at home, ahead of Stoke City's visit.

Cesar Azpilicueta - Chelsea - £6.6m
An ever-present in the Chelsea defence, the top-scoring FPL defender promises further returns against a Leicester City side bereft of the craft of Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) and the direct threat from Islam Slimani (£8.3m) because of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal - £11.9m
With 10 of 13 goals arriving on his travels, Sanchez is the highest-scoring FPL asset in away matches, making him an assured selection for Arsenal's trip to Swansea City. Paul Clement's side have let in 23 goals at the Liberty Stadium, the Premier League's worst home defensive record, and will likely struggle to shackle the Chilean. Sanchez is our Gameweek captain.

Dele Alli - Tottenham Hotspur - £8.6m
A shoo-in for selection having delivered seven goals over a four-Gameweek spell, Alli will face a stubborn opponent in West Brom but, with absentees in the Baggies backline, he has the opportunity and confidence to claim further returns.

Junior Stanislas - AFC Bournemouth - £5.2m
With assists in his last pair of outings, Stanislas has recorded six in his previous nine starts, together with three goals. He will be a key weapon for the trip to Hull City.

Robert Snodgrass - Hull City - £5.8m
Two goals in consecutive Gameweeks has earned the Scot over 100,000 new owners for the meeting with AFC Bournemouth. Scoring or assisting half the Tigers' goals, Snodgrass will be a likely protagonist in Marco Silva's first Premier League home match in charge.

Jermain Defoe, Sunderland

Jermain Defoe - Sunderland - £7.8m
Defoe is an assured pick with a goal or an assist in five of his last six Stadium of Light matches, including a brace of penalties against Liverpool last time out. The striker faces a Stoke City side who have let in 11 goals in their last three away trips.

Andre Gray - Burnley - £6.2m
The forward is in buoyant form for the visit of Southampton, having found the net with four strikes in his last two home Turf Moor outings. The Southampton defence has been resolute in domestic cups but leaked nine goals in their past five away trips in the Premier League, losing three.

Diego Costa - Chelsea £10.7m
Top of the FPL forward standings, Costa has failed to score or assist in just two of his last 10 Gameweek starts. With eight goals from 10 away outings, the Chelsea forward has been prolific on the road ahead of a trip to the King Power Stadium.
