Southampton have announced the signing of striker Adam Armstrong from Blackburn Rovers on a four-year contract.
The 24-year-old returns to the Premier League having previously made 15 top-flight appearances and provided one assist at former club Newcastle United.
Southampton had been looking to boost their frontline following Danny Ings' move to Aston Villa, and head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl is delighted to get his man.
"Adam was a big target for us this summer, so we are very pleased to have added him to the squad, especially as there was a lot of interest in him from other clubs too," Hasenhuttl told the club's official website.
"He is at a good stage of his career for him to be coming here. He is a young, dynamic player who has developed well so far and already has good experience, as well as an impressive goalscoring record, and I believe we can now help him realise even more of his potential.
"He will bring a lot of qualities to our team, and he gives us another good option in attack, which will be important for us."
Good luck @AdamArma9 at a brilliant football club. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 https://t.co/CFsS7uxEBX

Armstrong has proven to be one of the most prolific strikers outside of the Premier League. While at Newcastle, he had a loan spell at Coventry City and netted 20 goals in 40 matches in 2015/16.
Further spells at Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers followed joining Blackburn on loan in January 2018 and then permanently that summer.
He went on to score 64 goals from 135 appearances in all competitions at Ewood Park, including 28 in 40 Championship matches last season, the second-highest return in the division.
