1995: Chelsea confirm Ruud Gullit
Chelsea announced Ruud Gullit would be signing from Sampdoria on a free transfer.
The former Dutch international spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals from 49 PL appearances.
In the summer of 1996, Gullit was made player-manager of the Blues.
2011: Paul Scholes announces retirement
After a Manchester United career that spanned 17-years, clocking up 466 Premier League appearances, Paul Scholes announced his retirement.
Scholes won 10 Premier League titles in this time and went on to join the coaching staff at Old Trafford.
However, the midfielder would come out of retirement in January 2012 and capture another Premier League trophy in the following season.
