Romelu Lukaku

After a slow start to the season Romelu Lukaku rediscovered his scoring touch with a hat-trick in the win at Sunderland on 12 September.

The Belgian followed up with a goal and an assist as Middlesbrough were beaten 3-1 on 17 September, helping the Toffees to their best start to a season in the Premier League.

Lukaku dispatched a wonderful free-kick in a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, making the 23-year-old involved in more goals in the month than any other player.

His five goals put him joint-second in the race for the Golden Boot, one behind Chelsea's Diego Costa.

"I did not have doubts about him," Everton manager Ronald Koeman told evertonfc.com after his treble at Sunderland. "It is unbelievable how good he can be.

"Strikers look to score goals and there was a little doubt in his mind when he didn't score for so long for Everton.

"I told him the best answer is on the pitch and he showed his quality with the goals. It was a great performance."
