Match Preview: Southampton v West Ham

Southampton have won their last two matches under new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

West Ham United's defeat at home to Watford last time out ended a run of four consecutive Premier League victories.

Team news

Southampton will be without Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Huddersfield Town.

West Ham have several injury concerns, with Fabian Balbuena (knee) and Javier Hernandez (hamstring) facing fitness tests.

Marko Arnautovic (thigh) remains out, so a fit-again Andy Carroll (ankle) could make a first start in nearly a year.

Did you know?

Southampton have lost only one of their last nine home league matches against West Ham, winning four and drawing four.

West Ham are looking for back-to-back Premier League victories over Southampton for the first time since October 2001.

This will be the ninth PL match played on a Thursday since the start of 2016/17. None of the last eight have been won by the home side (W0 D4 L4).

Charlie Austin has never scored a PL goal on a Thursday but has done so on every other day of the week in the Premier League. He can become the 26th player to score on every day.
