Will Smallbone and Tyreke Johnson both helped themselves to hat-tricks as Southampton stormed to their second Premier League Cup victory of the campaign with a 7-0 victory over Notts County.

Southampton scored four goals in the space of 15 first-half minutes, Harry Hamblin firing the visitors into the lead midway through the first half before Johnson scored either side of Smallbone's cool finish.

Two minutes after the restart, Smallbone (pictured) whipped his free-kick over the wall and he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot eight minutes from time.

Winger Johnson was again on target in between Smallbone's second-half efforts to round off a morale-boosting win.

Saints have seven points from three matches and lead Group H by three points, although second-placed Newcastle United, with four points, and Leeds United, with three, have played one match fewer.
