2000: Barmby joins Liverpool

Liverpool completed the signing of Nick Barmby from city rivals, Everton.

The England midfielder rejected a new deal to move across Stanley Park to Liverpool.

He was rewarded in his first season with a treble as Gerard Houllier’s side won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the UEFA Cup.

Barmby scored twice as Liverpool finished third in the Premier League, but injury restricted him to just six league appearances the following campaign.

The former Middlesbrough and Tottenham Hotspur player moved to Leeds United in 2002, where he teamed up with his former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Terry Venables, before finishing up at his hometown club Hull City.

He scored a total of 53 goals in 343 PL appearances and produced 50 assists.
