Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Manchester United manager, is in hospital today after undergoing an operation following a brain haemorrhage.
The club he guided to 13 Premier League titles have released the following statement:
“Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.
"The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to aid his recovery.
"His family request privacy in this matter. Everyone at Manchester United sends our very best wishes.”
The thoughts of everyone at the Premier League are with Sir Alex and his family.
