With Mohamed Salah (£10.7m) an early doubt for Gameweek 33 after his injury scare, Fantasy Premier League managers are on the lookout for alternative captains.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.8m) is a strong candidate.

Brought in by more than 362,000 FPL managers for Gameweek 32, the Arsenal striker rewarded that faith with two goals and 13 points at home to Stoke City.

He has averaged 6.5 points per match since arriving at Emirates Stadium and will face a Southampton defence with just one clean sheet from their last 13 away matches.

Mahrez appeal

Riyad Mahrez (£8.9m) is another leading contender for the armband ahead of a home meeting with Newcastle United.

Like Southampton, Rafael Benitez's side will arrive at King Power Stadium with only a single clean sheet from 13 away trips.

Mahrez has produced a goal or an assist in 11 of his last 15 starts and has returned double-digits on five occasions.

His team-mate, Jamie Vardy (£8.9m), also remains in the running.

Vardy is the third-most bought forward in the Gameweek after scoring for the sixth time in his last eight appearances against Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

Standout Sterling

Manchester City’s prolific midfield offers options as they look to clinch the title with a home win over Manchester United.

Rested for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League defeat at Anfield, Raheem Sterling (£8.7m) is perhaps the standout pick.

He has produced 10+ points at the Etihad Stadium on five occasions.

Over his last six Gameweek appearances, Sterling has two goals and four assists.

Chelsea choices

Eden Hazard (£10.6m) Alvaro Morata (£10.4m) should not be overlooked.

The Chelsea pair will look to punish a West Ham United defence who have conceded 11 goals in their last three away matches.

Hazard has been a prolific points scorer against struggling sides. Five of his six double-figure tallies have come against teams outside the top nine.

Morata is in form, having scored in back-to-back fixtures in all competitions since returning to Antonio Conte’s starting line-up.
