Gary Cahill believes Chelsea will have benefited from a few days' rest when they face West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.

Chelsea go into the fixture having lost two Premier League matches in a row, at home to AFC Bournemouth and at Watford.

But Cahill says the break handed out by Antonio Conte means the players will be in the right frame of mind to return to winning ways at Stamford Bridge.

"I'm sure I speak for the rest of the lads when I say mentally, yes," Cahill told Chelsea's official website, when asked if the players had felt the benefits.

"I don't think it's a case of physically having the days off, getting off your legs or not wanting to work.

"It's an opportunity that the manager probably felt we could switch off from football for a few days and come back re-energised and re-focused for the job in hand, and I think it will be beneficial."
