Chelsea have announced the signing of Emerson Palmieri from Roma for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old left wing-back has agreed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge and is Antonio Conte’s second January signing, after the arrival of Ross Barkley from Everton.
After a spell on loan from Santos with Palermo in 2014/15, Palmieri made his mark in Italian football during a second loan spell with Roma, who signed him on a permanent deal in December 2016.
“I came here because it’s a great team with a great history,” Palmieri told Chelsea’s official website.
“Today I am realising one of my dreams to pull on the shirt of such a great club.”
The Brazil-born Italy international will not be eligible to make his Premier League debut when Chelsea host AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday, 31 January, but could face Watford on Monday.
