Tottenham Hotspur face a nervous wait to see if they are in the quarter-finals of the PL International Cup after a 3-3 draw against Benfica.

Nuno Santos’s 78th-minute equaliser for Benfica means Spurs missed the chance to guarantee a place in the last eight as one of the two best runners-up from the six groups.

Both teams knew victory in the Group F tie at Spurs' training centre would guarantee passage to the knockout stages.

Benfica led twice, firstly through Jose Gomes, before Shayon Harrison equalised, then through Heriberto Tavares.

But Spurs hit back and led 3-2 through goals by Jack Roles (pictured above) and Kazaiah Sterling, before Santos struck late.

The point meant Spurs finished above Benfica in second, but they must wait for the result from Porto v Bayern Munich from Group B on Friday.

Spurs need the two sides to draw to qualify. Victory for either will send them into the draw on Monday 29 January.
