Arteta is looking to win the award for the eighth time in his career, which would put him joint-fifth in the all-time list of Manager of the Month winners. Arsenal won a league-leading 11 points from a possible 15 in January to stay hot on the heels of Liverpool in the title race, taking seven out of nine points on the road with wins at Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers, plus a 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion. Arsenal also won the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur and drew with Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola (Man City)

Guardiola's Manchester City were the division's highest scorers across the month, netting 15 goals in four matches that included a 6-0 win at Ipswich Town and 4-1 success over West Ham United. Man City's 3-1 win against Chelsea put them back into the top four for the first time since 7 December.

Eddie Howe (Newcastle)

Beginning the month with a 2-1 comeback win at Tottenham Hotspur, Howe's side followed that up with a 3-0 success at home to Wolves - their sixth straight Premier League victory. Newcastle United lost one match in January, at home to AFC Bournemouth, but finished the month with a 3-1 win at Southampton that moved them up to fifth in the table.

Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth)

AFC Bournemouth had an unbeaten January that included two big-scoring wins. In their first match they secured a 1-0 win over Everton before the free-scoring Cherries hit their stride. A 2-2 draw at Chelsea was followed by an emphatic 4-1 success at in-form Newcastle before they ended the month with an incredible 5-0 win against third-placed Nottingham Forest, a result that extended their unbeaten league run to 11 matches and moved them a point off the top four.
