AFC Bournemouth’s form has taken a turn for the better over recent weeks and it could be down to the most simple of factors: sleep.
The medical department at Eddie Howe’s side have been following the advice of Dr Rob Daniel, an eye specialist and neuroscientist, who has looked at how watching television and looking at your phone or tablet at night can trick the brain into staying awake when you think you are asleep.
"You’ll put your head on the pillow after switching the telly off and you’ll think that you’re going to sleep," says Dr Daniel. "You’re not conscious but you’re not going into the deep phase of sleep where you rejuvenate your body and remove the toxins from inside your brain, which is in fact why you are tired."
