Manchester United have become the latest Premier League club to offer their facilities to help the NHS response to the pandemic.

Four hospitality suites at Old Trafford are being provided by Man Utd as a large-scale training facility for hundreds of COVID-19 vaccinator volunteers.

Over the next five weekends, members of St John Ambulance will use the suites to teach volunteers how to administer the vaccine, with those trained at Old Trafford delivering vaccines across Greater Manchester.

"The suites, parking, access and our dedicated events team can be valuable assets to this national effort to tackle COVID-19," the club's chief operating officer Collette Roche told the club's official website.

"We recognise that our local community will be feeling the effects of the pandemic for some time, and we remain committed to using our resources to support the response to this public health emergency and its social impacts."

Staff at Old Trafford will also have the opportunity to volunteer for the training programme in the coming weeks.

This is the second time that Old Trafford has been offered to key services during the pandemic. Last year, its car parks were used for drive-through testing, while hospitality facilities were used for a blood donation drive.

Meanwhile, United and their official charity, Manchester United Foundation, prepared £150,000 worth of food, which was delivered to four NHS Manchester sites.

How clubs help the NHS

Since the latest lockdown began, other Premier League clubs have also been helping their local NHS trusts once more.

Tottenham HotspurLeeds UnitedCrystal Palace and Manchester City are allowing their facilities to be used as vaccination centres, while Brighton & Hove Albion's Amex Stadium is hosting vaccination training in a similar way to Old Trafford.

Hotel rooms at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge are again being offered to NHS staff at the local hospital.

Jordan Henderson has also become the first official NHS Charities Together Champion after his work for the charity with the Players Together initiative. The Liverpool captain is pledging to shine a light on the valuable fundraising work done for the NHS.
