GW17 Captains: Rely on Fernandes

The Scout's panel of experts give their verdict on who managers should captain ahead of the Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 deadline of 16:00 GMT today.

Sam Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

I'll probably stick with Harry Kane (£11.0m), potentially Son Heung-min (£9.7m). Leeds will attack, which should leave space for Spurs counters that FPL managers all enjoyed so much at the start of the season.

Lee Bonfield (@FPLFamily)

When Marco Bielsa said in pre-season that Leeds' attacking style would never change, he surely foresaw battles with good counter-attacking sides as a problem. Spurs are the masters of counter-attack this season and, with Son's pace in particular, I'd expect them to give Leeds' defence some issues. Son gets the armband for me.

Ben Crabtree (@FC_CrabDogg)

Spurs' counter-attack is suited to Leeds' open style, while the added rest Spurs have enjoyed is a bonus, so I'll go with Kane.

Neal Thurman (@nealjthurman)

I got fooled by Leeds once and didn't pick Fernandes against them. I won't make the same mistake and pull the armband away from Kane. If you're looking for an alternative, Jamie Vardy (£10.2m) against Newcastle United looks good as well.

Ben McNair (@drbenmcnair)

A rested Son will enjoy attacking in transition against a Leeds side that were torn apart by Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks. Remember to put the vice-captaincy on a player from another match in case of postponement!

Geoff Dance (@GeoffreyDance)

While it's tempting to go for Son, Leeds United have two straight clean sheets and four in the last eight, while Tottenham Hotspur have scored only five goals in their last six matches. I will captain Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) and vice-captain Bruno Fernandes (£11.2m).

Chuck Booth (@ChuckBoothSport)

After two blanks in a row for Salah, I'm fully willing to accept he'll hurt me while I back Kane springing the counter versus Leeds.

Holly Shand (@FFCommunity_)

I'm tempted to back form and put the armband on Salah for the third week running. He's climbed the ranks to be the top-scoring Fantasy asset this season.

Nick (@WGTA_Nick)

This week I'm going for Son. I'm expecting it to be a goal fest and Spurs will be set up to catch Leeds on the counter.
