Danny Ings' second-half strike earned Southampton a 2-1 comeback win over Leicester City to avenge the 9-0 defeat by the Foxes in the reverse fixture.

Leicester took a 14th-minute lead, Jamie Vardy crossing for Dennis Praet to tap in at the far post for his first Premier League goal.

Stuart Armstrong's deflected effort made it 1-1 after 19 minutes.

Southampton were awarded a penalty after Caglar Soyuncu had fouled Shane Long, but it was overturned by the VAR due to the Southampton forward being offside in the build-up.

Ings provided the decisive moment on 81 minutes, latching on to substitute Che Adams's pass to finish underneath Kasper Schmeichel for his 14th goal of the season.

Jonny Evans' late header was ruled out for offside by the VAR as Southampton made it 13 points from a possible 15 to climb to 12th place with 28 points.

Leicester sit second on 45 points.
