Tottenham Hotspur moved up to fifth after Dele Alli's spectacular goal earned them a comeback 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Harry Kane thought he had opened the scoring on 24 minutes but his goal was overturned for offside after consultation with the VAR.

Brighton took the lead on 37 minutes through Adam Webster, who rose highest to head Pascal Gross's free-kick beyond Paulo Gazzaniga.

Spurs equalised in the 53rd minute when Kane scored at the second attempt after his initial effort had been superbly saved by Mat Ryan.

Alli brilliantly scored the winner on 72 minutes, firing in first time from a Serge Aurier layoff.

Spurs have 29 points, three behind fourth-placed Chelsea, while Brighton are 15th on 20 points.
