These sides, who sit just one place and one point apart, are both aiming to pick up where they left off before the international break.

Aston Villa, in 15th place, triumphed 5-1 at Norwich City in their last outing while Brighton & Hove Albion, in 14th, beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0.

Team news

Aston Villa have striker Jonathan Kodjia available for selection, but midfielder Jota is ruled out of Saturday's match.

Kodjia has been sidelined with a cheekbone injury while Jota underwent surgery last Friday on a hernia problem.

Graham Potter says he has "nice selection problems" ahead of Brighton's trip to Villa Park.

Leandro Trossard, Solly March and Shane Duffy are all available, leaving just Jose Izquierdo (knee) and Bernardo (knock) as the only two confirmed absentees for the Seagulls.

Did you know?

Villa are looking to secure back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since May 2015, while they can also score at least twice in four consecutive matches for the first time since April 2008.

Brighton are aiming for their first ever win at Aston Villa in any competition. They have lost eight and drawn three of their previous trips to Villa Park.

Wesley has been involved in five goals in his last six Premier League matches, with four goals and one assist, and is Aston Villa's top scorer this season.

Aaron Connolly's average of a shot on target every 31 minutes this term is the second-best rate in the Premier League, behind Alexandre Lacazette's 29 minutes.
