Sterling was benched by Pep Guardiola in Gameweek 6 to the dismay of over 1.4million FPL managers who made him the most-picked captain.

But Bonfield insists the midfielder's most recent rest, in the UEFA Champions League, will this time work to his owners' advantage when Manchester City host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

"I feel like the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome but I am going with Sterling," says Bonfield in the latest FPL Show.

"Rested in the Champions League in midweek I think he’s going to be the go-to guy against a Wolves team that won't have rested."

An injury doubt to Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) can further strengthen Sterling's prospects of featuring and Bonfield believes the Englishman can exploit his weary opponents.

"We’ve seen that Wolves post-Europa League can look a bit tired - and going to the Etihad is absolutely the last place you'd want to go," he adds.
