Rosarie Longelo scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner as Newcastle United rallied from two goals down to beat local rivals Sunderland 3-2 at the Academy of Light.
Sunderland were two goals to the good inside 34 minutes with Lee Connelly and Jack Diamond on target.
Thomas Allan pulled a goal back for the visitors three minutes before half-time and Elias Sorensen then levelled the match on the hour mark with his 19th goal of the season.
The Magpies were awarded a penalty after substitute Longelo was bundled over inside the box, only for Cal Roberts to miss from the spot.
But Newcastle produced a last-gasp winner, Longelo completing the turnaround in the dying moments when he fired in the rebound after Anthony Patterson had parried Soreson’s powerful free-kick.
The win takes Newcastle up to fifth place with 22 points. Sunderland lie bottom with five.
