There are a number of bus services from Huddersfield Town Centre and Leeds that stop within 10 minutes walk from the stadium.

Taxis are available outside Huddersfield station and throughout the town centre. For the return journey, taxis are not readily available outside of the stadium following the final whistle.

The John Smith's Stadium has an official car park, which can be accessed via the following routes:

  • From M62 west - Exit M62 at Junction 24, follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre (A629). After approximately two miles, follow the signs for the stadium, turning left onto Castlegate ring road and then left onto Leeds Road (A62)
  • From M62 east/north - Exit M62 at Junction 25, turn left and follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre (A62), following the signs for the official car park
  • From M1 south - Exit at Junction 42 and continue west on M62. Exit M62 at Junction 25, turn left and follow signs for Huddersfield Town Centre (A62) and the official car park signs

Huddersfield Town share The John Smith's Stadium with Rugby League team Huddersfield Giants.

When the stadium first opened in 1994, only the Riverside and Kilner Bank stands were in place. The South Stand followed in December 1994 and the North Stand was built in 1998.

The 2017/18 season will be the first campaign the stadium hosts Premier League football.
